Day 2 started with a visit to the team at Longbenton. Together Mission is partnering with Scripture Union to work with the local team at Balliol Youth Centre. They have a new coffee bar which not only provides nice drinks for the drop-in but also acts as a training resource for the young people. It seemed rude not to stay and sample a double shot americano mmmm. Then off to Houghton to join in a prayer walk around the town. Many teams had put prayer walks on their programs for the first day…it’s a great way to pray and get to know the community at the same time. As I was passing Sunderland it was a good opportunity to call in and meet the young people from Daniel Challenge (year out program) who had just arrived to join the other team members and the Eden team. This large team will be doing a lot of detached youth work in the area, so pray for them for good conversations. Then finally to Westerhope where I found the team very busy preparing all the craft resources for their Messy Church Family Holiday Club which starts tomorrow. Even with a lot more work I’m not convinced they’re going to make that paper stuffed pair of tights look like a bird!
Other news from around the teams – over 100 people have already been into the shop at North Shields!
