Together Mission Summary 2015

This is a full update of where we are up to with our planning and preparation for Together Mission 2015.

At present we have 10 teams. There are a wide variety of opportunities to explore mission with a range of activities including holiday clubs, community meals, coffee gatherings, craft clubs, youth work, light parties, prayer walks and community shops.

The idea of renting shop space, which was initiated by the North Shields & Whitley Bay team during the 2013 mission has sparked a lot of enthusiasm. Since then West Harton has on several occasions done something similar in South Shields.

I’m delighted to say that this year we are attracting leaders and team members of all ages. It’s not too late! If you would like to join a team please contact Elaine here.

The only placement we are re-visiting is St Andrew’s Southwick, Sunderland. This will very much be working in partnership with Eden and Salt & Light.

I’m delighted that Revd. Steve Wild will be visiting us during the week as part of his presidential year. He is eager to be used – particularly as an after dinner speaker. I will have no problem keeping him busy during the week and I anticipate his offer will be gladly received. He will spend the majority of his time visiting all the teams (just as a team of us did last time). Revd. Stephen Lindridge, District Chair and Mrs Tricia Mitchell, DMLN will also be visiting teams during the week and I very much appreciate their support.

Many of the team members who served in 2013 have made the request to be used in their own locality this year. Although as an organising group we hadn’t foreseen this, we have reflected that this is a healthy and positive outcome. Simply put, people want to be used in mission activity in their own communities. However, there are also opportunities to join a team outside your locality; please encourage folk from your church to join a team.

Saturday 24th October will be the team training day starting at 10.30am at Westerhope Methodist Church with a commissioning service at 3pm.

We continue to build a database of people who are offering to pray for the mission. We are looking for at least 10 churches to become prayer partner churches for specific teams. We will link these with the team leader who will be encouraged to keep in touch and send regular prayer requests. Please contact if you could be this link.
